Presence and Intimidation

Sometimes the best blades are those that are never drawn when there could be no more skill left to learn the presence the force of one’s will the intimidations of one’s charisma can be more exceptionally dangerous than the warrior drawing the blade.

When a warlord or a king needs to a quick victory in battle he will send his warriors in his stead but when he needs to use precision better yet, when he needs a point to be made…he sends the politician. Sometimes the most intimidating force of threat is the presence of one who can promise demise without even firing a shot. The act of offering a blood soaked treaty in out stretched clean hands with that cunning, promising smile of destruction upon refusal; is far more intimidating than the hordes of chariots, archers, artillery or a tide of warriors. There is something to be said about the ancients who had the charisma to command another king’s court and steal his own power and influence away from him. I admire that kind of spirit in a man who can wield a pen like an executioners ax.

Sometimes, the best kind of assassin holds the intent of utter annihilation in his eyes but holds no weapons in his hands. There is an exhaustive of effect for the bureaucrat who can wage war in the mind and trample down the morale of the spirit of the warriors on the battlefield. What can be more damaging to an armies war march than a treaty? The most effective empire will wield the masters of the silent blades and the axe of judgment through the use of laws and policies.  This is how a warrior nation is conquered. This is how the heathen world of tribal rulers and barbarian kings was conquered by men. With the pen and the sword. With the promising smile of an accord or absolute destruction. Sadly, our history proves that man can not keep his word thus can not restrain the sword from being unsheathed. It is through the art of presence of force and intimidation by political proclamations that our nation, the United States of America, still holds true to its empire. However, the reigns on that beast is slipping and now only war can gain back lost territories that the politicians have sold to our enemies.
